Press Release: Magpie Gallery Shop
Gallery Shop Opens in Collegetown, Ithaca, NY

Ithaca, NY, March 6, 2009 –Phil McCray announces the opening
of Magpie Gallery Shop, a new art source at 108-110
Collegetown Court in Ithaca, NY 14850 on March 2, 2009. In
addition to his own ceramic and stone tile and mosaic art, the
gallery shop offers both original artwork and reproductions, in a
variety of media and styles, from local, regional, and national
artists.  Magpie is a collaborative enterprise, attracting
consignment work from developing, professional, and student
artists.  Jean Callahan, co-owner of the gallery, said, “We have
an unusually diverse collection of decorative and functional art
for all budgets.”

Phil McCray, MFA Iowa and lifelong Ithacan, conceived of an art
shop in Collegetown as his art tile business, Loudeac Tile
Studio, Ithaca, began to draw interest from artists all over the
country. His years working as an archivist at Cornell familiarized
him with the campus and Collegetown culture. His eye for
resonant images from popular culture and history has made his
work a perennial attraction at regional art fairs.

Jean Callahan, co-owner of the new shop as well as the tile
studio, will cover  managerial and administrative roles, and
continue to work with clients on planning custom tile
installations. Recent work includes ceramic tiles of Alphonse
Mucha’s Art Nouveau women, and a set of marble kitchen
backsplash tiles featuring the colorful abstract art of British artist
Amanda Hone.

ABOUT MAGPIE GALLERY SHOP: Magpie is a small, personal
place to experience and buy art in the form of original paintings,

aim of inclusiveness. Customers can order high-quality custom

finish boxes, to framed plaques, personalized coasters, and
wedding favors, all made to last. Magpie also serves as a
